Prediabetes is a major public health issue globally with an annual conversion rate of 5-10%.

Early detection of Prediabetes allows us to prevent this transition. India accounts for one in seven of all adults living with Diabetes around the world.

The study aims to estimate the prevalence of Prediabetes and Diabetes, as seen in Home-collected Laboratory samples of Corporate Annual Health Checks (AHC) by Digital Healthcare Services.

METHODOLOGY
METHODOLOGY
Using a cross-sectional study design, a sample (n=77244) of adults aged 20-60 years were selected from various urban regions across India.

Leveraging a vast dataset of anonymized AHC reports collected between 1 Jan 2021 and 31 Dec 2023, this retrospective analysis examined the glycemic status of the participants.

Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) values were used to categorize individuals into Prediabetes and Diabetes subgroups based on American Diabetes Association (ADA) established criteria (Prediabetes:5.7-6.4% and Diabetes: ≥6.5%).

This study underscores the urgent need for targeted interventions to address the burden of Prediabetes in India.

Further research could delve into the longitudinal outcomes and effectiveness of remote interventions such as the utility of telemedicine and public health initiatives in improving glycemic control and reducing Diabetes-related complications.
